Noise Pollution - 4-8

Noise pollution is dangerous to health. It can lead to illness, high blood pressure, speech interference, hearing loss, sleep deprivation, and lost productivity. If you want to protect yourself from the noise you can use head gear (earmuffs, earbuds, etc.).
One of the biggest causes of noise pollution is cars. Cars create a lot of noise, simply from driving an old (loud) car, or from hearing the honking of cars around you. People who live near highways have complained about the noise pollution created by the cars (and trucks). This issue (with the cars) has been happening since 2000, with the car usage increasing by 18 percent. Now guess the place with the most noise pollution.
If you guessed the United States, you're wrong! If you guessed China, good job! According to the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong, some of the reasons that there are so many noise pollution complaints are because "Poor planning in the past and cramped development have resulted in such thorny problems such as highways running just outside people's living rooms ... brought more construction and more traffic, [which] has also contributed to the noise problem." About a quarter of the cities sleep in noise, with noise everywhere. Cars are one of the main problems in Hong Kong, but there are many more areas.
