Porsche Mission E

Image
PORSCHE MISSION E by Tej Mehta The Porsche Mission E is Tesla's new enemy. All these German automakers, like BMW and Porsche are trying to put Tesla down by making better electric luxury vehicles. I also posted on the Audi trons, which are supposed to target the Model X. The mission E, which is now no longer a mission, is supposed to target the model S sedan. Since the mission E has now been green lighted for production, it is not a mission. Therefore, I will address it in this post as the Porsche "E". The Porsche E goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, close to Tesla's 0-60 in 3.2. It will have a range of 311 miles, and can be charged wireless through a coil set in the garage floor. Porsche is ready to take on Tesla and become the king of electric sports cars. I used an article from Autoweek that that can be accessed here .

DELUXE TWO IN ONE GREEN AUTO POST

Audi E-Tron and H-tron By Tej Mehta E-Tron Quattro The Audi E-Tron Quattro is going to be Tesla's competition for their model X. Audi released this concept at Frankfurt Motor show in September. The Audi E-Tron Quattro is an electric "people hauler" according to Audi. It is a car that looks like the Audi Q5, but the size has been cut down a little bit. Audi claims it has a 310 mile range. They say it should arrive early 2018. It has three motors, two for the back wheels and one for the front. It gets 492-496 Horse power, depending on whether you are using a small boost or not. Audi says that the top speed is 130 MPH and the acceleration to 62 MPH is 4.6 seconds. That it a little bit more than one second slower than a Tesla model X signature series model. Instead of the rear view mirrors, their are cameras to reduce drag and add to the car's aerodynamic body. In the interior, there are two touchscreen displays on the left and right to the instrument cluster. The

The Pigment Yellow

By Nathan Shan Cadmium Yellow: Artificial, made in a lab with the minerals greenockite and hawleyite, along with some chemicals. It can be made in a variety of colors. Relatively cheap. Chrome Yellow: Also artificial, made by adding chemicals to lead salt. It's fairly dark and dull. Not very expensive. Cobalt Yellow: Artificial, made entirely of chemicals. It's lighter than Chrome and fairly expensive. Indian Yellow: Made from the urine of cows that were fed mango leaves. Looks more like orange than yellow. It was banned from the market because feeding cows only mango leaves made them starve, so Indian yellow was considered inhumane. Not very expensive. Lead-Tin Yellow: Artificial, made entirely of chemicals. It is very bright, and relatively cheap. Lemon Yellow: Artificial, made entirely of chemicals. It has the same color as a lemon, and is not very expensive. Naples Yellow: Artificial, made with a lead compound and chemicals. It's fairly dark

The pigment orange

Image
Orange How the color got its name The color we now know as to be orange was called "geoluhread" an Old English term which means "yellow-red". It is a very important color. This is because it is used on traffic cones. How it's made: Turmeric: Although the site I used, doesn't mention this spice, my grandmother (who grew up in India) told me that they used turmeric in their orange dyes Chrome Orange:  This orange became used as a pigment in the year 1809 the color ranges from light to deep oranges, and the hiding power is excellent. You need the chemicals  Lead(II) nitrate ,  potassium dichromate , and  sodium hydroxide to make this pigment. The scientist Nicolas Louis Vauquelin noticed that the new element chromium produced a bright orange color. This color stopped being produced a few years ago. Realgar: Realgar is a HIGHLY TOXIC arsenic sulfide and it was the first pure orange pigment. It was used in paintings until the early 1800&#

India's Pollution Solution

Image
New Delhi is really polluted. In 2014, the World Health Organization named it the most polluted city in the world. There is dense smog in most of the city, and an estimated 10,500 people die as a result. There has been a lot of pressure from environmentalists to fix the problem and inform the population of the health risks. The government has responded with planting more trees, ordering all buses and taxis to start running on compressed natural gas, banning leaded petrol in vehicles, and the introduction of the Delhi metro. However, these efforts haven't been working that well. In the past few years, pollution levels have been increasing. Last year, there were more than 8.8 million vehicles on the road last year. Recently, the government took another step. They implemented an alternate-day travel rule. That means that if the last number your car's license plate number is odd, you can drive on one day, and on the next, you can drive if the last number is even. This wi

Red Pigment- Just the facts

Image
The Pigment RED Cinnabar- Cinnabar is a type of red mercury ore when mixed with burning sulfur, you get expensive red paint used by the Romans. The Romans treasured this. Ratio- 1:1 Madder Lake- Natural Dyes from plants added to a white base substance. This pigment is one of the most stable and was used on most red clothing in the late 1800's. Red lead- This pigment is one of the oldest ever artificially prepared. It is good at hiding things but isn't that stable. It is made using the mineral minium. It was used frequently by the Persians. It is no longer used because of its way of disappearing over time. Red ochre- This pigment is comprised of mainly iron oxide, with some silica and clay too. The best comes from Cyprus. It started being in use a long time ago, and is still in use today. Vermilion- This pigment, used from 2,000BCE to 1,900 AD, is no longer in use.It   Minium

The environmental issue at the north pole

On December 30, there was a huge record made at the north pole. The same storm system that brought tornados and flooding to the US, and the first snow in Vermont, rose temperatures at the north pole to be 50 degrees above average. The temperatures are part of one of the strongest El Nino's in history. This made average temperatures in the arctic to go to 33.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1-degree Celcius) on average. The El Nino has some good parts to it too. It is bringing water to California. They were in a five-year drought, this has brought a lot of water to this desperate state. This might be good for them, but this is why we are having a warm winter so far. Meteorologists say the El Nino will become a La Nina (a very cold spring). Hopefully, this will do the same to the arctic. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3379988/Arctic-heatwave-hits-North-Pole-Temperatures-soar-60-F-bringing-icy-region-close-melting-point. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather
