Gasoline, Hybrid, Electric, Hydrogen, Gasoline, and Diesel Cars! | 4-8

Image
Gasoline,  Hybrid, Electric, Hydrogen, and Diesel Cars! - Grades 4-8  As we all know there are 3 main car types: Gasoline, Hybrid, and Electric. And, I posted before about Hydrogen Cars, so that makes 4 types of cars. But, there is 1 more car type, Diesel. In this post, it'll be all about the 5 different types of cars, Gasoline being the first, Diesel being the last.  Gasoline cars are everywhere, if you look on the back of almost every car that you see you'll probably see no Hybrid sign, but a tailpipe. Gasoline cars are cars that run on Gasoline mostly, and they are the worst way to travel (using cars). You have to refill them at least 2 times a week (depending on the car model and its millage). There are gas stations almost around every block, taking space for businesses, which are forced to move to different areas, which are possibly making the residential area smaller. As a fun-fact: When you drive a car (that's about 6 months o...

TESLA POWERWALL POST 2!!!

Image
The Tesla is an efficient (~105 miles per gallon equivalent model S) all electric car. Helps the environment, but you want to put Tesla products at you home, and save money. During the day, it charges from your solar panels. In the evening, when electricity is expensive and you can't get more power from your roof, the power wall releases the electricity into your home. You can buy multiple for  $3,000 each (7 KwH. 10 KwH is $3500 per). This excludes installation fees. It also comes in different colors. Tesla is planning a gen 2 , but there aren't very many details on that. Tesla has also developed a Powerpack for use in major buildings. The capacity for them is 100 KwH per. You may ask "How does it work?". Well, here is how.  The solar panel generates energy (see Solar Post ) Then, the energy goes to the Inverter and the Powerwall. At night, The Powerwall releases its energy into the inverter, which shows up in your electrical outlets. There is some competition fo...

Tesla's Predecessor

Image
Recently, the Silicon Valley start-up Orsion has made competition for Tesla Motors Power Wall . They want to change the grid while saving the consumer money. This is clever technology. If there was a power outage or a solar flare, it would discharge its energy into its house. This technology would also save you money. It will charge when rates are low, then discharge when rates are high. One of the downsides of this technology is that it doesn't hold as much energy. The wall mount holds 1.8 KWh and the tower one holds 2.2 KWh. On the upside, you don't need solar panels to use this technology. Just plug it in to a 120 volt power outlet. A cartoon of the Orison 2.2 volt I used:  http://clapway.com/2016/02/14/save-the-environment-and-your-money-by-using-this-technology-global-warming-climate-change/

Paris Climate Deal Has Been Made

Image
In December, 195 countries met in Paris to discuss climate reform. At the end of the 14 day period of talks, people agreed on an emissions target. The target The earth has warmed 1 degree Celsius (about 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit) since the industrial revolution started in 1750. The countries met and decided to try to keep it below 2 degrees Celsius.  A chart of the worlds warming in Celsius since 1880 http://400.350.org/ http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/GlobalWarming/page2.php

An inspiring video to make an impact on you!

The earth is warming, That is why we made this blog. It IS time to change! 20% of our world's population uses 80% of the world's resources. Oil prices are really low, $37 per barrel. People are using this money to get new cars. My family bought a new car, but I have mixed feeling about this. I know that it took a lot of oil to make the new car, and the old one will eventually end up in a landfill. However, since the car is larger I can carpool with my friends. According to the EPA, the average gas mileage of cars on the road is 24.1 MPG. This figure is one year old. This figure will probably decrease. This is because fewer mileage cars are "less" money than they used to be because gas prices are lower. That hurts the electric car market . It is less cost effective now because fuel for your Gasoline SUV is more cots effective than it used to be. Anyway... You can view the video  here Please note... Model C and Model R

Image
Tesla Model C & R: Too come soon? Not much is known about these cars. See the Tesla Forum for more. Here are some visions of the Tesla model C: These are the visions of the model R: Could the Tesla Model R really be Tesla's hyper car? Obviously the image above is not real. But none of these are probably real images.

The Tesla roadster

Image
The Tesla roadster. was Tesla's first car. Tesla considered it a fail, compared to the model S, and now the model X. The Tesla roadster got discontinued in 2012, when model S came out. Here are the specs and other facts about the Tesla roadster. The Tesla Roadster started production in 2008, and was discontinued in 2012.  The Tesla roadster now has an upgrade where it enables the car to go almost 400 miles on a single charge. Although only the people who already have it can do that. And, it costs 29,000 dollars to do that. Yes, the Tesla roadster did come with a convertible option.  People say that Tesla might come out with a new 2020 Tesla roadster. If they want to meet their goal of half a million cars by 2020, they will have to come out with more than just three cars. Also, they are planning on building their Gigafactories.  0-60 in 3.7. That is way behind the S. If you look at the roadster closely, it looks like a Lotus Elise . Click the link to view an Eli...

MODEL X!!!!

Image
Recently, the Tesla model X came out, and by recently, I mean yesterday! Elon Musk said this stuff on  twitter . With a whopping price of 130,000 and more it is very costly, but, the  car is great. The Tesla model X is a family friendly,  and and safe car. It seats 7, with 2 fold-able seats in the third row. The signature series, includes a 90 kWh battery pack, autopilot and self driving functions, and third  row seats. for 10,000 more dollars, ludicrous mode will be added to the X, making it go from 0-60 in  3.2   seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, for 1,000 more dollars, there is the subzero weather package, including heated steering wheel, seat heaters, heated washer fluid, and wiper defrosters. Also, for 750 more dollars, the car will be able to heave 5000 lbs. The falcon wing doors that the X has have sensors to keep them from slamming into walls, so it will stop at a certain point. I used Business Insider, and you can read the article  here. Check ou...

PEOPLE LOVE TESLA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image
Recently, consumer reports did a test. The Tesla had a perfect score of 100,  concluding that the Tesla model S P85D was the best car they have ever tested. Although, originally, the Tesla scored a 103! The Tesla set a new top in the rating system. The new Tesla model S, with "Ludicrous Speed" goes from 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds. Also, Tesla P85D had 100 good consumer reviews. The cost for the P85D, $127,000. So in the end, we can conclude that Tesla is great, but it is costly.

TESLA HOME BATTERY

Image
Tesla Power-wall Ah yes, the Tesla. Beautiful car. So, the Tesla powerwall is this device that mounts on the wall, and it charges itself with solar power.  The power-wall can charge your home. During the day, it charges up during sunny hours. In the evening, rather than buying electricity from the nearby power grid, the power-wall can power your house. Also during power outages, the power-wall acts as a generator. It comes in 10 k/wh & 7 k/wh. For more information , click on the link.

Tesla plans to build a gigafactory!

Image
A few months ago, Tesla released plans to build a Giga Factory, finishing construction in 2017, and reaching full capacity in 2020  Here is a drawing: As you see, this factory will produce 500,000 Tesla car batteries annually. Find out more here! Note: This pdf is old, the final site is in the Nevada desert. You can also see a drone flyover of the sites construction taped on May 17 here! UPDATE: CEO of Tesla Elon Musk announced to call Gigafactory, Gigafactory 1. This was after unveiling 800 million in orders of the Powerwall and Powerpack (see future posts). Musk estimated that Gigafactory 1 will not be enough to supply demand. He also hopes that other companies build their own "Gigafactories" The next Gigafactory (if it is overseas) will probably be in Japan. This is because Japan is the second most country that buys Tesla products (the US is number one)
