Audi E-Tron and H-tron

E-Tron Quattro

The Audi E-Tron Quattro is going to be Tesla's competition for their model X. Audi released this concept at Frankfurt Motor show in September. The Audi E-Tron Quattro is an electric "people hauler" according to Audi. It is a car that looks like the Audi Q5, but the size has been cut down a little bit. Audi claims it has a 310 mile range. They say it should arrive early 2018. It has three motors, two for the back wheels and one for the front. It gets 492-496 Horse power, depending on whether you are using a small boost or not. Audi says that the top speed is 130 MPH and the acceleration to 62 MPH is 4.6 seconds. That it a little bit more than one second slower than a Tesla model X signature series model. Instead of the rear view mirrors, their are cameras to reduce drag and add to the car's aerodynamic body. In the interior, there are two touchscreen displays on the left and right to the instrument cluster. The display on the right is for the navigation and steering and the  display on the left is for the lights and auto drive functions. Audi also released organic light-emitting diode Matrix laser headlights. According to the author of this story on Autoweek, he says that everything looks good, but that is what they always do for concepts. Therefore, we will have to wait until the car is completely released.

H-Tron

The Audi H-Tron was released at the most recent Detroit Auto show. It is supposed to be Audi's Hydrogen crossover. It has two motors, one for the front wheels and one for the back. The front motor gives 90 kW while the back gives 140 kW. The acceleration is about 0-60 in 7 seconds, which is much slower than Tesla's Model X signature series. The H tron is supposed to drive itself under speeds of 37 MPH. It is supposed to have a tank that takes about 4 minutes to refill, and a 372 mile range. We do not know when the H-Tron will go into production.
