The environmental issue at the north pole

On December 30, there was a huge record made at the north pole.

The same storm system that brought tornados and flooding to the US, and the first snow in Vermont, rose temperatures at the north pole to be 50 degrees above average. The temperatures are part of one of the strongest El Nino's in history. This made average temperatures in the arctic to go to 33.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1-degree Celcius) on average.

The El Nino has some good parts to it too. It is bringing water to California. They were in a five-year drought, this has brought a lot of water to this desperate state. This might be good for them, but this is why we are having a warm winter so far. Meteorologists say the El Nino will become a La Nina (a very cold spring). Hopefully, this will do the same to the arctic.
